On February 27, 2024 Troy succumbed to his arduous and brave fight with glioblastoma.
For 18 years, Troy was an integral part of Arcturis, leading the Brand Experience and Graphic Design studio. He brought color, quite literally, to all those with whom he crossed paths. Troy led an extraordinary life filled with love, community, and a passion for design.
First and foremost, Troy loved people. He had an ability to see talent in others. He understood how to harness creativity and cultivate beauty through hard work. He took joy in everyone he worked with. Despite his incredible personal talent and contributions, he always insisted that any credit be given to the collective “we.” In addition to mentoring and developing his team, Troy also periodically taught environmental graphics at Maryville and Webster universities.
Troy made St. Louis a better place. This was most evident through his work with his charity cycling team: United by Design. UbD brings together designers to use their skills to raise money and other support charities such as the MS Society and Pedal the Cause. Troy’s passion for community-building was both limitless and contagious. To be around him when he engaged with his peers was inspiring.
And finally, Troy’s drive for design excellence was powerful — leading teams to create with soul. Troy’s work can be seen throughout our community along the Great Rivers Greenway trails, throughout the BJC Healthcare and Washington University Medical Campuses, through the halls of America’s Center and across the neighborhood of the World Chess Hall of Fame.
His legacy will continue to inspire us always, in all ways. We are grateful Troy has been an indelible part of our world.
