ACH Residential Treatment Center

ACH Child and Family Services worked with Arcturis to convert a 10,660 SF building on their 4-acre campus into a 16-bed residential facility for youth ages 13-17 years old with behavioral and mental health needs. Vacant since 2009, the project included complete demolition and new interior build-out, consisting of two wings connected by a central common area. Required functions include bedrooms, bathrooms, a dining room, recreational space, public space, and offices for staff.

The design supports the safety and treatment needs of this special youth population by allowing adequate supervision, specific materials and finishes that are durable and impact resistant, and fixtures that support a safe environment, while at the same time providing a friendly, non-institutional atmosphere for the youth residents. Our design team incorporated thoughtful approaches to both electronic and physical security systems such as door locks, video surveillance, and motion sensors for the facility. The design also includes outdoor recreational opportunities for residents, landscaping, parking, and interior design.
