The Eureka Hill branch of the St. Louis County Library serves as a primary resource for many residents on the outskirts of the metropolitan region. While still books remain a focus, today’s libraries provide many additional community services. Expanded amenities include an interactive children’s area, community meeting space, quiet reading and private study rooms, a business resource center, and an abundance of comfortable seating generously spaced throughout the library’s collections. Patrons will enjoy reading a book in the outdoor seating area overlooking the library’s landscape planted with native species.
To realize this vision, Arcturis collaborated closely with library leadership, exploring multiple design iterations to align with both functional goals and community aspirations. The final design is deeply rooted in the local environment, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape and wildlife. Building form, site layout, material selections, and color palettes were all carefully considered to create a welcoming and enduring civic space.
This holistic design approach supports the library’s mission of enrichment and lifelong learning. By blending practical needs with a strong sense of place, the Eureka Library not only expands its services but also establishes itself as a lasting and adaptable resource for the community.
